Agent Woman

[ey-juhnt woo m-uh n]

adjective

A woman with tenacity, confidence, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a distinct point of view when it comes to holistic beauty and wellness. Women that our founder, Jena Covello, admire most.

The perpetually radiant electrical aesthetician might have good genetics, but the nano current device she created called ZIIP, a sleek, user-friendly contraption that links up to an iPhone app targeting dry skin, signs of aging, and acne, lends to her exceptional complexion. Meet Agent Woman, Melanie Simon.

Name: Melanie Simon

Instagram: @ziipbeauty / @melaniesimonskincare

Beauty Icon:  Cher in Moonstruck and Meryl Streep in Out of Africa.

Muse:  My daughter, Harper Monroe.

Favorite city for inspiration:  Paris

Dream client: Gwenyth Paltrow

Introvert or extrovert:  Introvert in an extrovert’s clothing.

Daily uniform: Long flowing velvet or chiffon dresses with heels, but barefoot with clients.

Cats or dogs:  Dogs—Mortimer Monroe is my pug!

Theme song: Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant.

AM ritual: I head straight for the coffee with heavy whipping cream and brown sugar.  Then I climb back into bed and get on my computer and call my business partner David Mason every morning before I head to my daughter’s room to get her up!

PM wind down: Get in comfy Sleeper pajamas with ostrich feathers around the base of the pants. My favorites are pale blue with red piping and cream feathers.  I make crushed ice-slash-ginger ale with a wedge of lemon and a straw. In the beauty world, this is clearly on the no-no list (high fructose corn syrup + smoker's lines + shall I go on…?). And I listen to audio books, put on my sleeping mask, and I always have a fan on for sound.

Greatest escape: Guana Island in the Virgin Islands.  It’s modest even though it’s a private island.  It’s spectacular!

Secret skill: I can hold my own snowboarding.

Biggest struggle: Trying to convey how powerful and effective the ZIIP device is in one line.

Stress and anxiety management: It’s very hard to unwind during the week as I am going, going, going with clients, photoshoots, business meetings, and my daughter.  Sunday is always my day to check out, but if I can swing it, I will take a few extra days and rent a little getaway right on the water.  I try and do the first day alone so I can really get into a zen mood. I make sure I have everything I need when I arrive so I am able to just sit with myself for the day. I will read, binge watch a new show, lie under my giant umbrella listening to the waves and get 9 to 10 hours of sleep.  It is the best way to recharge and keep me creative in my work. My favorite is the hobbit house in Miramar Beach in Montecito.
