What are the differences between hair (silk) and holi (locks)?

It’s always busy at Agent HQ but, recently, we’ve been *extra* busy because early December saw the launch of two incredible new products that I have been working on formulating for the last ten months, in partnership with my special friend, the amazing Dara Kaye. This truly was so much more than a business collaboration - it was a collaboration of our love for each other as well as a deep appreciation for gorgeous hair and I’m so excited for you to try what we have developed together.

Hair (silk) and Holi (locks) are the two new products that are going to overhaul your hair health. In today’s blog, I wanted to go into a bit more detail about the two products, how the journey has developed, the differences between them, and help you understand which might be right for you - as well as giving you a 15% Agent Army discount code.

Back to the beginning.

The formulation of Hair(silk) and Holi(locks) started ten months ago when I learned that the hair oils on the market can dry out your hair if they contain silicones (which so many do). I knew I had to create a natural but equally powerful alternative.

I then started talking with Dara, who gave me a list of potent, powerful, and incredible Ayurvedic oils that clinically target all of these things and more. These ayurvedic ingredients were so luxurious and the second she sent me that list, I knew we were onto something magical - because by combining those ingredients with the most powerful scientific actives on the market (all approved for green beauty), we were creating something that didn’t exist already.

Introducing hair (silk)

Hair (silk)  is our first-ever serum for styling, smoothing, softening, and repairing hair.

It is a jasmine & amber-infused lightweight silk peptide hair serum that delivers strong, smooth, and shiny hair, while also protecting your mane against future damage. The serum is both restorative and protective. It is unique from other hair oils because it works with your hair over time, not just for a day.

It's also formulated with french silk peptides, hyaluronic acid, and monoi as well as an incredible active ingredient called Beracare ARS Hair Serum™ (among others) (amongst others) that is a natural complex packed with properties that promote the look of hair follicle revitalization and hydration of the scalp. So, if you’re after a restorative and protective styling serum, Hair(silk)  is the product for you

I love to apply the hair serum when I want to air dry my hair. For me, after towel drying, I put half of a dropper in the palm of my hands and spread the product evenly through my hair, and If I’m blow-drying, I use a quarter of a dropper on towel-dried hair, then I blow dry as normal and then use a few drops as a finishing oil for extra shiny, silky hair.

What about holi (locks)?

The second product, holi (locks) is a strengthening treatment oil that promotes the look of hair growth. It is a treatment oil and is NOT a styling oil. It is a product made for the scalp and ends - actively fighting against the appearance of hair loss- in both men and women. The product is also great for reducing hair breakage, as well as helping with dry hair and a dry, itchy scalp as well as dry ends.

Backed by advanced hair science, as well as four scientifically proven, patented, active ingredients, we have formulated a product that combines science-backed ingredients with natural, powerful ayurvedic ingredients.

If you’re looking to deeply repair, or fight against the appearance of hair loss, balding, or hair thinning - I’d get holi (locks).

I advise using holi (locks) for 3-6 months, applying 3-4 times a week from scalp to mid-section of the hair (although you can go down to the ends of your hair if you want to).

The important thing here is that you want to apply holi (locks) one of two ways: I like to apply to damp hair and I allow it to air dry. I apply to the scalp and massage it through the ends. I leave it on an entire day and wash my hair that evening or the following morning. The second way I apply is to dirty hair and leave it in overnight (or for a full day and then wash it out at the end of the day or even the next morning).

It is critical that you wash this out.

Remember, it is a treatment oil. It is not made for styling or blow-drying but on top of all of the benefits it has treatment-wise, it also really does give an incredible shine and makes my waves really soft and deeply moisturized so YOU CAN apply it to air dried hair.

Can they work together?

Yes! Restore overnight with holi (locks) and then style and finish with hair (silk) and you’ve got yourself a pretty powerful duo.

These serums can be used on all types of hair.
