Jena’s Mom's Winter Skincare Picks
Hi!
I’m Jena’s Mom, and I’m going to share with you some of my favorite products and routines that I always use this time of year.
Winter weather tends to strip our skin of moisture and those of us switching on our home heating systems for the next few months also have that dry air to cope with too. So I’m going to talk you through some of the products I think of as ‘my essentials’ that help me combat moisture loss and always provide protection.
Let’s start with mornings. I begin by applying Biologique Recherche Lotion P50V 1970 with a cotton ball, using upward movements, from neck to face, to forehead. I follow that with a half-dime size amount of Agent holi (c), mixed with holi (lift) ageless lifting and firming serum, and holi (water) pearl and rose hyaluronic essence, applying the three products to face, neck, arms and hands.
Why I do use these three?
Well, the holi (c) is a magical combination of vitamin C and calcium. I’ve not come across anything like it before and it’s a game changer if you want to restore your skin’s elasticity. It contains calcium ketogluconate, a French-patented natural complex molecule that delivers a youthful and plump appearance. It’s also superb for smoothing any fine lines and improving your skin’s overall texture. The vitamin C element helps brighten your complexion and it also helps reduce the appearance of age spots and fine lines.
The holi (lift) is a deeply hydrating and moisturizing serum which works exceptionally well with mature or aging skin - believe me, you will love the results, especially its soft, dewy finish. It’s packed with natural ingredients such as aloe, rosehip, cucumber, rice bran and Vitamin E, which help firm, tighten and brighten, to leave you with youthful looking plus it protects your skin barrier and prevents the loss of hydration.
The holi (water) is another serum, and it’s designed to restore your skin’s brilliance with its amazing combination of organic plant extracts, precious minerals and natural acid. You’ll feel it improving your skin’s elasticity and notice a difference as it tightens your pores and gently removes dead skin cells to reveal a more hydrated and dewy glow. I find it’s even more effective when I combine it with the other two products.
The next step in my morning regime is to pat my skin dry and apply a zinc 50 sunblock to my face and neck and follow with Agent holi (sun) spf 50 dewy tinted skin drops, which I apply to my face, arms, hands and neck. I was so proud of Jena when she created this product and launched it just a few months ago, after years of development and research. I finish by applying The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid under my eyes, to help reduce fine lines.
Prior to sleep, I cleanse with Agent acid (wash) which is a skin brightening cleanser and I allow my skin to dry naturally. When completely dry, I apply Altreno, a tretinoin similar to Retin-A and finish with Agent Lash and Brow serum on my brows - it’s so great at nourishing, conditioning and strengthening.
I occasionally switch to The Ordinary L-Ascorbic Acid Powder and Vitamin C Suspension with HA Spheres. This exfoliates so gently and leaves my skin brighter and more radiant, and then I revert back to the original regimen. I occasionally use Lily of the Desert 99% aloe vera gelly in place of the hyaluronic acid under the eyes.
I give my skin a weekly treat with Agent’s holi (bright) resurface glass face mask which really does deliver clear, soft, smooth skin. I find this formula really calming and soothing. It’s so ideal for mature, dry, sensitive or inflamed skin as it’s loaded with antioxidants and is perfect for an at-home pampering session, leaving you with clean, clear, soft and smooth skin and a radiant, glass-like ageless glow. Plus it’s so easy to use - you just paint it on with a brush and leave for 15 minutes while it works its magic, then rinse off with warm water. If I want an intense result, I’ll leave it on overnight.
Every evening, I mix holi (radiance) in a full glass of water. Taking this supplement orally helps to restore our skin’s ceramides and I find it makes a huge difference to my skin’s hydration, so my skin feels smoother and looks more youthful, and leaves me with a really healthy glow. It contains a high grade antioxidant that helps build keratin and collagen so it sets to work on my nails and my hair as well as my skin. And because it contains OptiMSM, this can also help reinstate vitality for workouts with its support for connective tissues, joints and cartilage. No wonder it’s a best-seller!
However busy your day has been, and no matter how tired you feel, taking care of your skin and performing oral care is critical for skin and oral health. We all know how to take care of our teeth, but my advice is to take care of your gums too! So my normal evening routine also includes fifteen minutes of gum and oral care using a GUM proxabrush and GUM stimulator, followed by using knotted dental floss (three knots). This will heal troubled gum areas and tighten the gums. I brush with a Phillips Sonicare toothbrush.
Now to hair. My hair has gone through many iterations of thickness, falling, being very thin, not so thin, and back to healthy and much thicker. I do believe that some hair products today, mainly shampoo, may cause hair loss. So during the past three years, I’ve reduced washing and I simply rinse, condition then blow dry weekly, following with Agent hair (silk) which is a wonderful, hydrating serum that gives you silky, soft and shiny hair serum once a week, and applying holi (locks) an anti-fall hair serum that helps detangle and strengthen your hair. The hydrating hair serum is so luxurious and heavenly scented.
And now off to the powder room for Jena’s lovely products and the nightly routine with, of course, a huge bubble bath, with holi (bath) rose infused calming coconut milk bath.
Love, Mom
