Spermidine is a natural compound called polyamine and was originally isolated and found in semen. It is also found in various foods like soybeans, mushrooms, and aged cheese. It was first discovered in semen, and promotes holistic health and longevity. Our particular formula in calm (beauty) is derived from amino acids and is gluten free.  It has various functions in the body- it maintains DNA stability, regulates cell growth and death and enhances autophagy, (the removal of damaged zombie cells). Based on what we know of the telltale signs of aging, the above effects should delay it. Spermidine has gained attention in skincare and haircare for its potential benefits. Fine lines, sagging skin and wrinkles have all been shown to decrease with regular oral supplementation of spermidine. It has also been found to promote hair growth, stronger nails, and longer eyelashes because of its ability to increase keratin production.

Spermidine has been suggested to have potential benefits for hair health, including its effects on hair color. While there is limited direct research on the specific effects of spermidine on gray hair, some studies have explored the role of polyamines like spermidine in hair pigmentation and aging.

Let’s get into the potential benefits:

1. Anti-aging properties: Spermidine has been suggested to have anti-aging effects on the skin. It may help in promoting skin cell renewal and regeneration, which can contribute to a more youthful appearance.

2. Antioxidant properties: Spermidine exhibits antioxidant properties that can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. This can potentially reduce the signs of aging and improve overall skin health.

3. Skin hydration: Spermidine may help in improving skin hydration by enhancing the skin barrier function. This can lead to softer, smoother, and more supple skin.

4. Anti-inflammatory effects: Spermidine has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which can be beneficial for calming irritated or inflamed skin conditions.

5. Wound healing: Some studies suggest that spermidine may promote wound healing by accelerating the repair processes in the skin.

Hair follicle cells are reliant on spermidine and polyamines for their growth. Studies show that spermidine promote hair growth in animals and in human scalps. There is also some evidence in healthy humans. This randomized study recruited 100 people and either gave them a placebo or spermidine for 90 days. The spermidine group had significantly more hair follicles in the anagen phase (the phase in which hair is growing) and had less apoptosis (hair loss) of hair bulb cells. They also did significantly better in pull tests. (a pull test is when a dermatologist gently pulls on small sections of hair and counts how many fall out as a measurement of active hair loss)

Here are additional potential benefits for hair:

1. Hair follicle stimulation: Spermidine may help in promoting the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, which are important for hair follicle growth and maintenance.

2. Hair follicle protection: Spermidine exhibits antioxidant properties that can help protect the hair follicles from damage caused by oxidative stress. This may contribute to healthier hair growth and reduced hair loss.

3. Improves hair strength and texture: Spermidine may help strengthen the hair shaft and improve the overall texture of the hair, making it appear shinier and more resilient.

4.. Prevents hair loss: By promoting a healthy scalp environment and supporting hair follicle health, spermidine may help reduce hair shedding and prevent hair loss.

While spermidine shows promise for promoting hair growth and improving hair health, more research is needed to fully understand its effects on hair.

Spermidine and Gray Hair Reversal:

1. Antioxidant properties: Spermidine is known to possess antioxidant properties that can help protect cells, including those in the hair follicles, from oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is one of the factors believed to contribute to premature graying of hair.

2. Hair follicle health: Spermidine may support the health of hair follicles and promote hair growth. Healthy hair follicles are essential for maintaining the natural color and quality of the hair.

3. Promotion of hair growth: By potentially stimulating hair growth and improving the overall health of the hair, spermidine may indirectly help in maintaining the natural color of the hair.

It's important to note that the graying of hair is a complex process influenced by various factors such as genetics, age, and environmental factors.
