Agent Woman Carrie Barber

[ey-juhnt woo m-uh n]

adjective

A woman who embodies the spirit of truth, authenticity, and ingenuity. She lives her potential, embracing her unique gifts and shining her light to consciously create a better world. As an Agent of beauty and inspiration, she is a woman admired by our founder, Jena Covello.

Meet Agent Woman, Carrie Barber. The owner and creative director of Make Beauty has worked with some of the biggest names in the beauty industry, including Violet Grey, Glossier, and Sephora. After re-launching Make in 2021, Carrie has been working to redefine the idea of clean beauty by finding sustainable ways to create clean products. For Carrie it’s not about being 100% clean but using technology like L.E.N.I. (Lab Engineered Natural Ingredients) to make formulas that combine skin safe synthetics and natural ingredients.

Name: Carrie Barber

Instagram: @carrie_barber

Daily Uniform: Black leather pants, oversized sweater, and black heels.

AM ritual: I usually wake up at 6am, check my notifications and make coffee. Then I spend one hour doing whatever may it be watch tv, check Instagram or shop online. It's my guilt-free unscheduled time to myself and it's a must for me to start my day right.

PM wind down: Every night before I go to bed, I always wash my face, with MAKE Double Cleanse Set, followed by MAKE Lactonic Serum and Super Cell Deep Moisture Cream. Depending on my skin I will add serums or do a treatment, like the holi (bright) face mask, but that is my baseline nighttime routine. I then take magnesium and melatonin, set my alarm for 6am, get my dog into bed and fall asleep to Mad Men.

Something that puts you in a good mood: A great martini...and the @goodnews_movement on Instagram.

Something that’s inspiring you at the moment: My team inspires me every day, I am in awe of what they accomplish in a day, and we have fun doing it. I am very grateful to work on MAKE with them.

Best advice you’ve ever received: Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you are -my Dad :)

A wellness expert who has significantly helped you: Geneen Roth has been someone I go back to time and time again. She wrote a book called Women, Food and God that helped me break away from my eating disorder when I was younger and is a book I go back to time and time again. Wellness to me now is so much about listening to myself and my body, following cravings and enjoying food and exercise. When I need a little support with stress or hormones, I see Dr. Patti Kim in LA.

Favorite wellness/beauty treatment: Hands down the lymphatic drainage treatment at Ricari Studios. It is so much more than a lymphatic treatment. It's my go to.

Go-to stress remedy: Taking a break. Usually when I am stressed, I just need to take a step back, give myself some space to level set and then come back to whatever it is I was doing.

Supplements you can’t live without: Magnesium.

Three things you’re really into right now: New MAKE color (launching at the end of February), Euphoria on HBO, and finding very old antique furniture.

Top three favorite shops: Eataly, Violet Grey, and The RealReal

Top three favorite Instagram accounts:

Go-to for inspiration: Instagram or NY City.

Your ultimate indulgence: Spontaneous travel.

Must-have Agent Nateur product: holi (mane) (OBSESSED) and holi (bright).
